This position requires excellent computer skills and
multi-processing talent.
Communication Officers must have the ability to handle several tasks in a short period of time and be able to prioritize situations.
Communication Offiers enter information into a Computer Aided Dispatch computer at the time the information is being received.
Communication Officers also enter all incidents into the local police computer system. Dispatchers must possess good typing and grammar skills.
Communication Officers deal with highly stressful situations on a regular basis. They deal directly with the public and are an essential part of our law enforcement team.
Communication Officers work 12 or 10 hour shifts and the communications center is open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
